While there’s nothing as humdrum as a bog-standard bedroom in this particularly high-end hotel, Maybourne has ensured The Emory Penthouse is several steps above the rest of the inventory, figuratively as well as literally. Occupying the entire top floor and with interiors by London studio Rigby & Rigby, this two-bed eyrie is cocooned in calming golds and creams.

It’s huge, at 3,229 sq ft, but cozy, with an inviting lounge and two eight-seater dining tables (in the lounge and on the terrace) allowing for indoors or outdoors dining. The loveliest feature of all, though, might be those uninterrupted views of Hyde Park’s leafy canopy. You’re in central London, but you could almost believe you’ve escaped to the country.
